Smaller pieces like Milk Stools, side tables, and coffee tables can be purchased directly through the site. For dining tables, benches, and larger furniture, submit a quote request and we'll follow up within one to two business day with pricing, lead time, and shipping details for your location.

We offer wood species selection and dimensional adjustments on most pieces in the collection. On select pieces, we also offer finish matching to Farrow & Ball colors — just let us know your preferred shade after placing your order. If you're looking for something outside our standard configurations, submit a custom inquiry and we'll let you know what's possible. Lead times for adjusted pieces may vary.

KHEM Studios is founded by Erik Guzman and Kari Lorenson. We design and produce everything in our studio in the Hudson Valley, New York. Erik brings a background in sculpture and fine woodworking. Kari brings a background in design and business. The name KHEM is a family acronym, and the interlocking joint in our mark represents how we think about craft — two forms meeting with intention, each stronger because of the other.

Our work has been recognized by Architectural Digest, Oprah, The New York Times, House Beautiful, Martha Stewart, and Real Simple.

Most pieces require 4–6 weeks from order to delivery. More complex configurations or high-demand periods may extend to 12 weeks. We'll confirm your specific timeline at the time of order.
-
All of our furniture is made from domestically sourced American hardwoods: black walnut, cherry, hard maple, white oak, and ash including our ebonized ash finish. No veneers, no composites, no imported lumber.
-
We finish every piece with Rubio Monocoat, a plant-based, zero-VOC oil that bonds at the molecular level with the wood fiber. It brings out the natural character and depth of each species, is food-safe on applicable surfaces, and can be refreshed over time without stripping or sanding.
-
Yes — that's one of the best things about solid hardwood. Cherry deepens significantly with age and light exposure. Walnut lightens slightly and warms. Maple and oak develop a richer patina. Ebonized ash remains stable. These changes are natural and desirable.
-
Because every piece is built to order, we cannot accept returns on custom furniture. If your piece arrives damaged in transit, contact us immediately with photos and we will make it right — whether that means repair, replacement, or full refund.
-
We stand behind the structural integrity of every piece. If a joint fails or a structural defect appears under normal household use, we will repair or replace the piece. This does not cover normal wear, finish aging, or damage from misuse.
-
We do — that line continues at khemstudios.com. The furniture collection represents the other side of our practice: larger-scale, original designs for living and dining spaces.
-
We don't maintain a public showroom. All pieces are made to order in our Hudson Valley studio. To get a feel for the work before ordering, we're happy to send material and finish samples, and our product photography is shot to accurately represent scale, grain, and color. Reach out and we'll help you make a confident decision.
