Questions
What is The Credenza made of?
Solid kiln-dried hardwood for the legs and top, and shop-resawn solid-core panels for the case and doors. Available in five wood species — American Walnut, Hard Maple, American Cherry, Ebonized Ash, and White Oak — and finished in Rubio Monocoat hardwax oil.
Why solid-core paneling instead of fully solid panels?
A properly built solid-core panel stays flatter and truer over decades than a fully solid panel of the same dimensions. The core controls wood movement through seasonal humidity changes, so the doors and case keep their fit and reveal lines for the life of the piece. Both the structural members and the visible faces are solid hardwood; the core is hidden beneath.
Where is it made?
It’s built to order at the KHEM Studios workshop in Hudson Valley, New York.
Can I customize it?
Yes. You choose the size (48″ TV Console or 84″ Dining Credenza), wood species, finish, and interior — an open cabinet, shelving, or drawer banks — and, if drawers are part of your configuration, the drawer construction (Standard lock rabbet or Premiere two-species dovetail). The piece is built to that specification through our online configurator.
What finish does KHEM use?
Rubio Monocoat, a plant-based hardwax oil. It penetrates and bonds to the wood for a durable, low-sheen surface that keeps the natural grain visible. Available in Flat (the KHEM standard) or Semi-Gloss.
How do I care for a Rubio Monocoat finish?
Wipe clean with a soft cloth and refresh occasionally with Rubio Monocoat Universal Maintenance Oil. Avoid prolonged standing water and harsh cleaners.
How long does it take to receive?
The Credenza is made to order with a lead time of typically 6–8 weeks from order confirmation.
What sizes are available?
Two: a TV Console at 48″ W × 17″ D × 25″ H (two doors) and a Dining Credenza at 84″ W × 22″ D × 30″ H (four doors).
What’s the difference between Standard and Premiere drawer construction?
Both ride Blum Tandem Plus Blumotion undermount slides; the difference is in the drawer-box joinery. Standard (lock rabbet) is a precision-engineered mechanical interlock in solid maple, with a drawer face in your chosen credenza species. Premiere (two-species dovetail) is a solid maple box with hand-cut-style dovetail tails in walnut, drawer face in your credenza species. The Premiere is meant to read as a detail when the drawer is fully open. Premiere is the more expensive of the two.
Are the doors grain-matched?
Yes. The doors are sequenced so the figure of the wood runs continuously across the face of the piece.
Do I see a total before I submit?
No. We hold pricing back from the configurator on purpose, because the right number depends on conversation: which species you want, freight to your ZIP, and any specifics that come up about your space or installation. Configurations start at $3,200; the rest we walk through with you.
